Helping You Move Forward
My Journey
Welcome, I'm Leigh—
I have a particular interest in working with individuals and couples where trauma and attachment experiences are impacting mental health and relationships. My approach integrates psychological therapies with an understanding of mind-body processes.
My interest in the mind-body connection in trauma was shaped by both lived experience and professional training. As a former Royal Australian Air Force nurse and veteran, I developed an understanding of how service-related experiences, sexual assault, and bullying can impact mental health and wellbeing. That understanding informs my work today, alongside evidence-based psychological training. I provide psychological therapy for adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief, PTSD, and life transitions. I also work with couples where mental health concerns, including attachment trauma, are impacting the relationship.
As a registered psychologist, I provide evidence-based psychological therapy for adults and for couples where mental health concerns are impacting the relationship. My work with couples is grounded in psychology and integrates approaches including Imago Relationship Therapy, Schema Therapy, Parts Therapy and trauma-informed practice. This is a registered health service and individual sessions may be eligible for Medicare rebates with a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan. Therapy focuses on understanding relationship patterns, communication, and the impact of individual trauma or attachment experiences on the couple.
For couples seeking intensive weekend formats, retreats, or intimacy and embodiment practices outside of a health service, I also provide private couples coaching through Quantum Couple Coaching.
Psychological distress often shows up in both thoughts and the body. My approach acknowledges this connection while remaining grounded in psychological science. In our work together, we may explore:
1. Patterns of thinking and belief that developed through past experiences and may no longer serve you.
2. Emotional responses and regulation, including ways stress and trauma can be held in the body as tension or protective patterns.
3. Practical skills drawn from cognitive and somatic approaches to support your capacity for awareness, choice, and wellbeing. Sessions are conducted in a safe, confidential space. My role is to support you to understand your experiences, build skills, and move toward your goals. I utilise EMDR, Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), somatic psychotherapy, clinical hypnotherapy, CBT, Schema Therapy, and Parts work. I have advanced training and supervision in DBR with Dr. Andrew Harkin and Dr. Frank Corrigan. DBR is a neuroscience-informed approach used within psychological therapy. Dr. Andrew Harkin and Dr. Frank Corrigan.
My approach is integrative, holistic, and deeply respectful of the wisdom held in the body. Therapy is collaborative and tailored to your goals. For clients who choose it and where clinically appropriate, sessions may include mind-body awareness and regulation skills alongside talk-based therapy. I have experience working with veterans, survivors of sexual assault, and individuals living with complex PTSD, chronic pain, and dissociation. My role is to provide a safe, confidential space to support you to understand your experiences and work toward your goals.
For couples who prefer a more holistic and intensive approach, I offer Couples Coaching intensives & Couples breakthrough retreats at my coaching practice www.quantumcouplecoach.com.au
I am not a medical doctor and do not prescribe medication. Outcomes of psychological therapy vary for each person. No specific results can be guaranteed.
